Building Financial Confidence Through Education

We started Tyoar Btoux in 2019 because too many Canadians felt locked out of investing. Not because they lacked the money, but because the learning curve seemed impossibly steep. Our answer was simple—break it down into manageable pieces and teach it like real people having actual conversations.

We Don't Believe in Shortcuts or Hype

Most financial education falls into one of two camps. Either it's impossibly dry—think textbooks from 1987—or it's selling you a dream that'll never materialize. We land somewhere in the middle, which turns out to be where most people actually need help.

Our programs focus on what works for regular people. Not day trading. Not crypto speculation. Just solid fundamentals about how markets function, what different investment vehicles actually do, and how to build a portfolio that matches your real life situation.

The best question we ever got from a student: "Why didn't anyone explain it this way before?" That's exactly the response we're aiming for—clarity without condescension, substance without unnecessary complexity.

We update our curriculum every year based on what students struggled with and what clicked. Because the market changes, regulations shift, and new products emerge. Static education doesn't help anyone.

How We Actually Teach This Stuff

Our methodology comes from years of testing what resonates with adult learners who have jobs, families, and limited time. We focus on practical application over theoretical perfection.

01

Context Before Concepts

We start with why something matters before explaining how it works. Understanding the purpose makes the mechanics stick better. This means real scenarios from Canadian investors, not abstract examples from finance theory.

02

Build in Layers

Nobody learns portfolio management in one sitting. We introduce core ideas early and revisit them with increasing complexity. Each module assumes you've retained something from the previous one, but we don't expect perfection.

03

Practice With Feedback

We use case studies based on actual market conditions from 2020-2024. Students work through decisions, see potential outcomes, and understand what they missed. Mistakes in learning environments are valuable—they're cheap and educational.

Student Journey Structure

Foundation Phase

Understanding the Landscape

First four weeks cover market basics, investment types, risk assessment, and how Canadian regulations affect your options. We focus on vocabulary and mental models that make future learning easier.

Application Phase

Building Your Framework

Weeks five through eight introduce portfolio construction, diversification strategies, tax implications, and how to evaluate different investment products. Students start making actual decisions with hypothetical money.

Integration Phase

Developing Your Strategy

Final four weeks focus on your specific situation—balancing goals, understanding your risk tolerance honestly, and creating a plan that matches your real life constraints. No cookie-cutter advice.

Ongoing Support

Continued Learning Access

After completion, students get quarterly updates about market developments, regulatory changes, and new educational resources. Because financial education doesn't end with a certificate.

Who's Behind This

Small team. Big focus on getting the teaching right. We come from different backgrounds but share a frustration with how investing gets explained to beginners.

Leander Vipond, Lead Educator at Tyoar Btoux

Leander Vipond

Lead Educator

Spent twelve years analyzing portfolios for a mid-sized investment firm before realizing he preferred teaching to number crunching. Leander built our curriculum from scratch in 2019 and continues refining it based on what actually helps students understand complex concepts.

His approach: if you can't explain something to a curious teenager, you probably don't understand it well enough yourself. This philosophy drives how we structure every lesson and case study.

Outside teaching, Leander reviews financial products for clarity—he's that person who actually reads the prospectus and then translates it into plain language for the rest of us.

Next Program Starts September 2025

We're currently enrolling for our autumn cohort. Twelve weeks of structured learning, practical exercises, and honest feedback about investing fundamentals. Limited spots to keep discussion quality high.
